Do I Have to Purchase An Extended Warranty From A Motor Dealer?

The Answer is NO!

Exclusion Warranty

This type of warranty would usually be offered to newer vehicles with less kilometres and would be similar to the manufacturer's but excludes cover for normal wear and tear items ie. rubber hoses, filters, bulbs, batteries etc. If the part or problem is not listed as an ‘Exclusion’ in the warranty document, it’s included.

 

Inclusion Warranty

This type of warranty would list what part or problem is covered, and that’s all. If it’s not listed, then it is not covered. These types of warranty usually apply to older vehicles with higher kilometres.

 

However, some common items that may be covered under a vehicle extended warranty include:

 

  • Engine and transmission components: This can include the engine block, pistons, crankshaft, cylinder heads, transmission gears, and other related components.
  • Electrical systems: This can include the battery, alternator, starter motor, ignition system, and other electrical components.
  • Air conditioning and heating: This can include the compressor, condenser, evaporator, and other related components.
  • Fuel system: This can include the fuel pump, fuel injectors, fuel lines, and other related components.
